Co-op
Games Like It Takes Two
It Takes Two works because both players are forced to cooperate — neither can finish alone. If that clicked with you, the games below lean on the same idea. None are clones; each earns its spot by making two-player teamwork the core mechanic.
From the same studio
- A Way Out (Hazelight Studios) — the spiritual predecessor. Two prisoners escape together in a split-screen-only adventure. Pure co-op, no single-player, exactly like It Takes Two's design rule.
- Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons (Hazelight, originally 2013) — one player controls both brothers at once with a single pad, but the co-op feel carries into later Hazelight work. A short, emotional intro to the studio's style.
Couch chaos & coordination
- Overcooked! 2 — kitchen co-op where you chop, cook, and serve under time pressure. Communication breaks down fast; that is the fun. Great next step after It Takes Two's co-op rhythm.
- Moving Out — a physics comedy about hauling furniture. Looser than Overcooked but same "yell at each other fondly" energy.
- Unravel Two — two yarn characters tethered by a string, solving gentle puzzles together. Calmer pace, still forced teamwork.
Puzzle & story duos
- Portal 2 (co-op campaign) — the separate two-player story mode is a masterclass in asymmetric puzzle roles. Requires real coordination, very much in the ITT spirit.
- We Were Here series — pure communication puzzles: one player sees a clue, the other solves from description over voice chat. No combat, all co-op brainwork.
- Divinity: Original Sin 2 — turn-based RPG with a strong two-player campaign. More relaxed pacing, deep systems, and constant "you take left, I take right" decisions.
How to pick your next co-op game

- Want more story + spectacle? Try A Way Out.

A note on these picks
These recommendations are editorial, based on the co-op design of each title as described by IGN and the studios' own pages. Every game listed is a real, independently released title; for publisher and platform details, check that game's official store page. The list points you toward the co-op feel of It Takes Two rather than competing with a store catalog.
